Role: Project Coordinator, At Home in Gaza and London
Hours of work: Freelance part-time beginning January 2018 with full-time rehearsal and production periods until
Salary: equivalent of $1,200 per month

At Home in Gaza and London is a performance project initiated by the UK performance company Station House Opera. It is a partnership between artists in Gaza and in London and will lead to a theatre performance that happens in both cities simultaneously. The aim is to create a performance piece that surmounts physical and political borders through innovative use of the Internet, celebrating a rare meeting in the artistic workplace and bringing the lives of people in Gaza to the attention of a UK audience in a new and creative way. We are looking for a project coordinator to join the project team as the main contact person in Gaza. The role is on a freelance part-time basis, with full-time requirements during rehearsals and production time. The contract period will begin in January 2018 and workshops will run between March-June with public performances in June and July. The contract period will extend beyond the summer for a workshop series in the Autumn and possible future performances in 2018-19.

The role includes but is not limited to identifying and communicating with partners in Gaza, organising workshop, rehearsal, and performance space, equipment, scheduling, finance, and communication with participating artists and partners. We are looking for a highly organised and capable individual with excellent communication skills and a wide
network in Gaza. An interest in long-term involvement in this crosscultural project is essential.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
· Be the project representative in Gaza and main point of contact between both production and creative teams
· Source adequate venues for rehearsals and public performances
· Liaise and set up internal and external meetings with partners
· Oversee all aspects of the management of workshops and rehearsals –i.e. ensuring smooth scheduling and communication with hosting venue, filming and rehearsal schedules, sourcing lighting, sound, generators, and all necessary equipment
· Run the financial contracts and transactions in Gaza alongside the producer in London
· Contribute to the rehearsal process through translation and listening and responding to the artists’ needs
· Create new and build upon existing links with arts communities in Gaza
· Add basic updates to social media (Facebook and Instagram)
· Write activity reports and evaluations in English and/or Arabic

Qualifications:
· Minimum of 3 years experience coordinating projects (arts experience desirable but not necessary)
Essential skills & attributes:
· Excellent communication skills essential
· Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic essential
· Ability to translate live essential
· Wide network in Gaza and confidence in reaching out to new people essential
· Flexible and self-motivated approach to working and an ability to prioritise and plan essential
· Positive, proactive and enthusiastic attitude essential
· Ability to work well in a high-pressure environment essential
· Attention to detail essential
· Good IT skills, particularly in email, Skype, social media
· Sensitivity to and interest in theatre and art preferable
· Experience working with artists preferable

Who we are:
At Home in Gaza and London is a project initiated and co-directed by Julian Maynard Smith and Taghrid Choucair-Vizoso. The project has had two workshop and research & development phases with public sharings in January 2016 and November 2016.
